Project Summary:

Klondyke Garden Centres operate six garden centres in Scotland and 18 garden centres in England and Wales trading under the name of Strikes Garden Centres. As a result of expansion their telecoms contracts had become unfit for purpose BCR Associates reviewed their telecoms essential spend and identified overall savings of £20,000 (30%) - all of which were passed back to the client.

About our client:

Established in the 1980's, Bob and Dorothy Gault laid down the foundations of what has grown into Klondyke / Strikes Garden Centres, a completely family owned, independent group of garden centres.

From one single site, Klondyke now operates 24 garden centres throughout Scotland, Northern England and Wales along with 18 garden centres in England and Wales operating under the name of Strikes Garden Centres.

Client requirements:

Through ambitious expansion plans, in particular a merger with William Strikes Garden Centres a similar family run business, the business has grown exponentially though had never taken the time to review their
telecoms across the group. Klondyke contacted BCR Associates to look at their many telecom contracts which had multiple terms and end dates and many of which were on expensive and lengthy BT tariffs.

Our approach:

BCR Associates' dedicated account manager worked closely with David Yardley, Operations Director at Strikes Garden Centre to understand their business needs with a view to reducing their cost and administration burden. BCR Associates researched and offered bespoke solutions, managing the entire process of their behalf, all without cost or obligation and 100% of the savings realised were added to the business' profit line.

The project:

From billing, telecoms specialists at BCR Associates were able to clarify existing contracts, diarise future renewal dates and action any renewal window or out of contract rates. We sourced a solution from our trusted board of suppliers, selecting Gamma Business Communications who were able to offer the lowest line rentals, the best call rates, better service levels and also supply a converged solution that allowed all company land lines to ring company mobiles for 1p per minute, reducing their call spend further.

The results:

The solution was key account managed by BCR Associates with Klondyke/ Strikes Garden Centres receiving 100% of the savings and improving cash flow immediately. Going forward they will never miss a renewal date as their dedicated BCR Associates account manager will get in touch at the right time. The client will also not have to worry about dealing with the piles of administration that come along with these associated services as again their account manager will take care of this. Overall savings for this telecoms review run at £20,000 or 30% in the first year alone.
