The client: Henderson Fabrications

Based in Northampton, Henderson Fabrications is a successful precision sheet metal manufacturing business that has seen rapid expansion in recent years, with investments in new premises, machinery and the latest computer technology.

The challenge:

As a large energy user, Henderson Fabrications’ business costs had increased significantly and its energy contract was rolled by the existing supplier. The client was therefore keen for BCR Associates to fully review the energy contracts to determine if more cost-effective solutions could be found.

The solution:

Our Relationship Manager undertook a thorough review of the situation, collating information on contract end dates and consumption patterns. We identified that the electricity contract was on very uncompetitive rates and that the gas contract costs were also higher than necessary for the size of business.

Our close relationship with our supply chain allowed us to secure more favourable energy contracts. This included very competitive electricity prices 9 months ahead of the contract finishing, giving an added benefit of lower prices in a rising market. We managed termination on the client’s behalf to ensure that the old contract finished correctly and that the new one started automatically.

The results:

Despite rising energy prices, our specialists’ expert knowledge reduced our client’s annual expenditure by £14,000 (14%) on electricity and £2,200 (16%) on gas, fixing prices for up to 3 years ahead. In addition to this Henderson Fabrications did not have to worry about any paperwork to manage these contracts as all administration was handled by BCR Associates, giving the client more time to focus on frontline duties.
