The client: Cooksmill

Cooksmill has a proud 30 year history of offering non-food catering supplies and equipment to the hospitality industry. It operates 3 sites in Salford, Bradford and Dewsbury.

The challenge:

Cooksmill had already identified a requirement to reduce expenditure on its electricity and fine-tune its administrative processes. The client asked BCR Associates to undertake a full review of its essential energy spend.

The solution:

We initially met with the Director of Cooksmill, Muhammed Dadibhai, to understand the client’s specific needs and key goals for the project, which included the streamlining of billing and administrative processes for energy contracts. We then provided a thorough analysis and review of all five electricity contracts, some of which had expired, and also considered the high levels of energy consumption at the premises. We ultimately presented the client with a solution that achieved the business’ desired outcomes and also rectified the issues with expired contracts where the client was being charged off-contract rates.

The results:

Our first step was to contact the energy supplier to ascertain accurate energy usage and then place the client on market-leading rates, making an overall annual saving of £10,742. The new contracts were fixed and co-terminus, giving Cooksmill complete budget certainty and requiring minimal administrative resource for 36 months.

We continue to work closely with Cooksmill to retrieve some of the out-of-contract money charged previously.
