On Thursday 21st May, the North Devon Manufacturers Association hosted the 18th annual awards ceremony to recognise the achievements of local manufacturers as well as the next generation of engineers & designers from North Devon's education establishments. BCR Associates were proud to sponsor the schools technology award which was split into two categories: 13 to 16 and 16 to 19 years old. Our Chairman, Richard Dormer, was on hand to present prizes to the winners:
13 to 16: Emma Cobby – West Buckland School
16 to 19: Curtis Belamy Pitt – Blundell’s School
The talented students won a trophy plus a cheque for £100, both donated by BCR Associates.
I am very proud to be connected with such bright and talented young people. I wish them all the best in their future studies and careers in engineering and design. The event was also a fantastic opportunity to catch up with our manufacturing clients in the North Devon area.
The event will also lead to Richard expanding his mentoring sessions to schools in the North Devon Area on the Focus 5 project. The project teaches vital life skills which focuses on extra-curricular hobbies and interests that are valued by universities and employers at interview. Richard specialises in advising students how to use these hobbies and interests to demonstrate their transferable skills when applying for jobs and university places.
